Lowrance Hook Reveal
Hey Guys,
Im very new to boating electrics and just wondering if anyone has used or knows about the new Lowrance Hook reveal 7x or 5x? Just wondering how it compares to the higher end Lowrance models like the Ti2 and also the cheaper Hook 2 Models.
Mainly bait fishing in Western Port for snapper, gummy shark and whiting but also do some freshwater lure fishing for cod. I'm wondering if the triple shot or splitshot transducer would be the best for what i do? I know the triple shot gives side imaging which would be advantageous in Lake Eildon for cod but wondering if anything else?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Lowrance Hook Reveal
If you plan on using sidescan, look for a 9inch model. Bigger screen makes it easier to see and define what you are looking at.
The main differences are the Ti and above units are (mostly) touch screen and run better software (from what ive seen)
The Hook units are mainly buttons and they feel cheaper in hand ie lighter.
Go into a BCF and have a play with the different ones.
If you can afford slightly better, id be looking at the better models.
(just had a look at CH smith, the Hook 2 9 is $899, the Elite 9ti2 is $1399, so a big difference, but i believe worth it)

Re: Lowrance Hook Reveal
Out of the thress species you have mentioned, only snapper will benefit from a sounder in salwater, cod im not sure as i dont fish for them, but if your just trolling then a sounder might no be of much use.willow17 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 8:50 amHey Guys,

side scan is a very great tool, if you know how to use it.
The Ti2 is defenitely the pick of the bunch. but the hook reveal seems like good value for money ( i havent used it)

Re: Lowrance Hook Reveal
I have the Elite Ti2 7 and it is an awesome unit, it changes so much about how i go about fishing compared to the old Hook CHIRP unit i used to have previously (sidescan is unbelievable). And i also agree, get the biggest one that you can get. I got the 7 because the 9 would not fit on my dash without being a pain in the arse to install.
The only thing better than serenity is a two stroke at full throttle!

yeah guys I would go the 9 over the 7, but I think the 7 will only just fit on my dash.
I believe you can mirror screen to an Ipad/tablet if size becomes a problem.
I will probably also link it with my motorguide via a nmea cable kit.

Get the 9 trust me, I went from the 7 to a 9 and the screen size is quite a lot larger.ben475 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 5:44 pmSteveoTheTiger wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 4:18 pmI have the Elite Ti2 7 and it is an awesome unit, it changes so much about how i go about fishing compared to the old Hook CHIRP unit i used to have previously (sidescan is unbelievable). Use a bracket or something to offset it off the dash.
Yes you can mirror the screen via a tablet. I haven't tried it yet but heard it works well but can be a bit annoying in bright light.
Linking the xi5 is the best thing I did, i wouldn't fish without it again.
When your running a few screens on the same page the extra screen size def makes a massive difference.
