Measure the square section of the axle if it's 45 mm it's a Ford bearings put the new and the old hub on a flat surface and see if they are the same check the numbers on the the front bearings of new and the old to make sure BCF gave the right hub .When putting the on leave the front bearing out until rear bearing is seat on the shaft gives you a bit wiggle room

It’s definitely on the right way :)
The seal should not be rubbing against the square part of the axle and if the hub on on far enough to be able to install the washer, not and split pin then it is all OK.

As fishnut said it's fitted correctly here you can see by the picture of the stub axle

Take the old hub and bearing with you and go back to where you bought the New/Replacement ones from and ask them to match the "Old" setup.

Sanded - I measured it up and it’s 40...... so maybe it is golden ?

Fishnut - I think you may be right. Maybe it is right and I am reading too much into it? The wheel but and pin all lock in everything snug enough that if you show the bearing there is no movement.

Russel - I think it’s to far gone at this stage. Only because I am even unsure if the old one is right either because it fits the same way as the new one *slams head on table*

Here's a photo of my setup, you have to push the seal on it is a fairly tight fit and is held in place by butting up to the square section of the axle. The seal itself does not turn with the wheel but seals against the stainless retainer which is a press fit into the hub and turns with it. You can see a bit of grease has come out, I go with the theory you cannot have too much grease as long as you do not fill the hub. I repack my bearings most years and occasionally change the seals but the bearings have lasted over 10 years and still fell smooth.

Ango - that’s a bloody snug fit mate.

First of all, thank you all for the help! And here is the final conclusion!

I was able to get someone to come out and have a look and they said the issue is with the actual axel and that it may have historically been machined back too much hence the issue with the actual fit.

What this means now, I have greased the bearings, installed the new one, put it all back together and it is fitted and tight (obviously still falls short at the back).

I am going to drive the trailer for the next few months for the season and once the season is over, the boat is getting dropped off the trailer and everything will be getting changed. I am going to put on a new axel, get better Quaility hubs and bearings, and finally clean and spray the entire trailer.
