3 way rod holders

Post by ben475 » Mon Feb 24, 2020 7:45 pm

Which 3 way rod holders (snapper rack type that fit into the standard angled rod holders on most boats) do you have/prefer, the fixed type or adjustable type?

I have both and they both work well. The adjustable ones are good because you can put them in any rod holder.

Another option is bow rail or fixed.
I drill holes Mount this the aluminum not rail.
Sturdy as no bouncing of rods when ya get a bite

Ditched them for custom 8 pots a side that slot into 2 angled deck holders one right in the stern and one 2ft up from the rear corner. If they're not needed (tuna trolling etc) they can be instantly removed like the 3 ways yet are far more practical especially side on due to wind

I currently use the fixed stainless steel ones and they are great if your rod holders are mounted at the correct angle. I have also used the plastic adjustable ones that were good enough for general bread and butter fishing (flathead etc), but nearly snapped when i had an unexpected tangle with a fair sized Gummy.

The only reason i swapped over to S/S is because i sold the plastic rod holders with my old boat and picked up a port and starboard S/S set for $50 or something when i got the new boat.

I use the fixed stainless ones (3 of) that slot into a standard rod holder and let me tell you I'm extremely tempted to buy the stainless adjustable ones as it becomes so frustrating in PPB when the tide and winds are going the opposite way and you cant adjust the rod holders. V Tackle in the west was selling them for around $230 each which I found pretty expensive though. Anyone know of anywhere else that sells the adjustable ones for a better price?
