BRP pull the pin
Evinrude outboards are no longer. BRP are ceasing production of Evinrude Etec outboards which leaves Tohatsu as the only direct injection 2 stroke manufacturer after Mercury pulled their Optimax lines in favour of their newer 2.1L, 3L, 3.4L and 4.6L four strokes. Now all BRP owned boat brands (Quintrex, Stacer and Savage in Australia) will be factory packaged with Mercury outboards.

Provided the motor passed emissions it was not banned.purple5ive wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 1:25 pmSeem like they are Blaming the Covid19 pandemic as the reason to shut shop.

Etecs meet emissions requirements.
I think the lack of popularity was due to the poor power delivery and a belief that they were unreliable.

Re: BRP pull the pin
An announcement has been made by the Department of Environment and Energy that the Minister for Environment, The Hon Melissa Price MP, has amended the Product Emissions Standards Rules 2017 and extended the commencement of the supply offence by 12 months to 01 July 2020. This change will allow retailers an additional 12 months to sell remaining uncertified products such as two stroke outboard engines and PWC’s.

Re: BRP pull the pin
That didn't apply to etecs as their emissions are almost as good as four strokes.
