Lock down and stand down has me doing research and lots of manual labour. When I bought my boat it was on a trailer but also had antifouling on it. The previous owner had it at port Douglas and would put the boat in for months at a time then put it in storage.
Any way to remove the anti fouling I have been quoted between $4000 to $5000 dollars I have always put it last on things I need, having time on my hands I have started to give it a crack myself.
I bought an attachment for my pressure washer you just push the pick up into a bag of dried sand and blast away. A big tip wear safety glasses. It removed 2 layers of the anti fouling down to the etch paint which unless I find a paint stripper I can use on fibre glass it’s a lot of manual rubbing down to the gel coat.
It seems to be doing a good but messy. When the sand has dried out you just brush it up the last picture is the transom at least it’s now white, I am holding off doing the rest of the hull till I get some builders plastic to put on the trailer I don’t want to take the boat off the trailer at 6.5 metres it’s heavy.
