Flushing Tub/Bag
Does anyone have any hints on where i can get a large tub or outboard flushing bag to suit a 75hp outboard?
It would need to be around 60x30cm and at least 45cm deep.

Re: Flushing Tub/Bag
A large wheelie bin chopped in half, or one of those 200l blue plastic drums cut in half, may do the trick. That’s what I use nowadays anyways. Otherwise, BCF used to sell collapsible ones, (they prob still do), but they weren’t great. Std muffs don’t tend to give a donk a proper flushing imo.

Re: Flushing Tub/Bag
Get one of those 55L plastic bins and it should work. If you have trouble getting the motor in and out lower the jockey wheel to give you more room.
You can also fit a tap at the bottom to help you drain it with a bit of reinforcement from the inside or you can make up a small platform on wheels that the bin sits on to help you get in and out from the leg.
Also when running in a tub always leave the hose running in there as the water heats up very quickly.

Re: Flushing Tub/Bag
The problem is the depth of the tub. I have found plenty that are wide enough, but not deep enough. 45cm is only just deep enough to cover the water inlets. Up until now the best thing i have tried is a tall washing basket with a bin liner in it. But its not great as you almost always tear the bin liner. Years ago i had one of those blue plastic 44 gallon drums which i was able to cut out a section so that the motor fit, but i wouldnt know where to get one from these days.KeenAds wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 6:58 amGet one of those 55L plastic bins and it should work. I did find this tub with a quick search of Bunnings

I will go and check it out when they re-open, but i suspect the taper at the bottom will mean its too small. A large wheelie bin cut in half is probably going to be the answer but i was hoping to get away with something cheaper.. that tub at Bunnings is only $19.
As far as flushing bags go, all the ones i have found are either too small or out of stock in Australia. They arent cheap either.. usually around the $200 mark.

Re: Flushing Tub/Bag
Ive seen the round blue bins at a concreters joint locally.
If they are opened i will go and have a look when I'm allowed to go.

Re: Flushing Tub/Bag
I was more talking about the plastic round ones they are about 700mm high.
Also try searching "blue plastic drums" on Gumtree quiet a few for sale depending on where you live and how far you want to travel. Just cut to the height you need.

Re: Flushing Tub/Bag
I didnt think of Gumtree, thanks.
There is someone selling them for $5 each just down the road from me. I'll give them a call next week and see if they might work. Im pretty sure it would be wide enough.
EDIT: In the end i was able to find a large enough tub at Bunnings, it is 45cm deep so it should clear the water intakes with a couple of cm to spare. It seemed to be the only tub that was deep enough but it was only $25 so hopefully it works well.
