Fishing trip ruined by back injury!

Post by jfel » Sun Mar 14, 2021 4:04 pm

Was heading out with the boat on the back of the dual cab on Friday morning. Pulling in to a mates driveway I hit a pot hole and the boat jumped off the towball! The boat appeared to be partly on the road so in the moment I tried to lift the trailer back on to the car...then pop! Couldn’t move, ambulance called and now I’m still stuck on my back with a herniated disc! Don’t think I’ll be fishing for a while...

Very bad luck mate, I know how you feel, take it easy, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

That's bad luck mate bending and lifting heavy weights don't mix. I had a bad habit of not locking my towball down after putting the car on till my trailer came off at the boat ramp one day, lucky for me I had just launched my boat.
Hope you have enough sick leave to cover the time you are off work.

Hi jfel,
I feel your pain, I had the same issue myself and ended up having surgery which worked to some degree. My lower leg was numb due to nerve compression and after surgery this was fixed but I was never as good as previously. Take it easy and do what the doctors tell you, hopefully you will be OK, the hardest thing is learning your limitations. I had great difficulty asking others for help loading stuff into my car etc. but this is what you must learn to do. Not your fault your back is stuffed, just bad luck.
Cheers
Ango.

Next time use car jack to move
boat.
I hurt my back when I was 20,herniated disk , sciatica.
Never played sport since .

Depending where what disk is herniated, u might need o do no lifting job.

Mine took 5 plus years to seattle down a bit.
To many boats kayak, helicopter , catch a fish, catch a fish
