On my way out there now, have the app, my bluetooth speaker and candles all set to go.Bugatti wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 7:57 pm
G'day (well Gd'evening)
Normally I attend some Anzac Service somewhere. Last year was at Semaphore (SA) but with the Covid, all has been re-aligned with "Light up the Dawn"

Well, I shall be out in the Driveway with a Candle tomorrow morn. It's amazing how reflective one can get, when you start thinking of all that has been done by so many to serve our country.
Anyone else going to "Light up the Dawn" tomorrow morning?
Cheers, Bugs

One of the things I reflect on every year, as the first light dawns on a new day , , , , is how lucky I am to be able to see another day dawning because of those who have sacrificed theirs
Lest we forget

Re: Anzac Day
The "Anzac Spirit" , , , , the "Australian spirit".
Here are some facts, points that some may not be aware of.
Anzac Day is synonymous with the Anzacs and the Australian Spirit. The Australians & New Zealanders aren't the only ones that have the "Australian Spirit"
Lemnos (where my parents come from), is a little Greek Island that was the Base-camp, Staging Area for the Gallipoli Assault.
Mudros Harbour, (Lemnos) is where the combined fleet (of all countries involved) assembled and left for the Gallipoli Campaign.
The Greeks fought alongside the Anzacs. To this day there is a "brotherhood" between the Australian Armed Services and the Greek Armed Services, spanning every war. A notable mention is that Australia & Greece are the only two countries to have attended every Olympic Games, no boycotts.
The Egyptian Army was part of the Gallipoli Campaign too
Here are some Tassie Soldiers
Indian Soldiers fought the Gallipoli Campaign as well, along side the Anzacs.
Back over 100 years, there was even acceptance and respect of other cultures and customs. Here two Greek men, delivering live Goats & Sheep to the Indian Troops at Gallipoli, as they needed to be killed by the Indians themselves.
Even our women did their bit. Australian & New Zealand Nurses (and others) on Lemnos in the Tent Hospital. A nice ABC mini series was made about their heroic sacrifices.
Our Indigenous brothers also had the Anzac/Australian Spirit. Even though how they were treated, they still enlisted and fought for Australia, in every war.
So it doesn't matter who we are or where we come from , , , , we all are Australian, we all have the Anzac, Australian Spirit.
Makes us all brothers in my eyes
Cheers to all on Anzac Day
