Paraphrasing a movie line titled "its not what we say, its what they hear"

Customer : I need "forkandle"
Shop assistant A brings four candle
Shop assistant B brings fork handle
Pretty sure I saw that on The Two Ronnies years ago. Classic.
Yes! That's the one!
Thanks, found it on YouTube, classic indeed. :gj:

When it comes to "classic" play on words, another good one is Abbott & Costello's, "who's on first"

I listen to Radio Station 104.3 -The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show ,Christians show is good but his English Grammar is not.
He would say Me,Jack and Patsy-He should say Patsy .Jack and Myself.
I also see naming yourself first comming into reports on this Forum-Me and Whomever
What is going on-Has the language changed or people are getting slack?
Maybe bad grammar or just laziness
I do it sometimes
Only sometimes?

English isn't my first language, I had to learn it and I'm still learning. Always thought native English speakers would have perfect English. Tbh, often I cant even tell its right or wrong, as long as the message passed on as intended.

My first year of learning Jiu Jitsu my coach spoke almost no English at all. Just pointed and used the 20 odd words he knew. Since then he's developed acceptable English. I have no idea why boomers get so fired up about typo's, new age slang and language conventions that have come about since they learned how to read and write. As long as the intention is clear the exact use of language bears no significant impact on communication.

I agree in part...except that, in writing that intention, punctuation and spelling are the only means available to get the message across.
The entire context of a conversation can be misinterpreted by misuse of a comma, e.g.; "I enjoy fishing, cooking dogs, etc.." vs "I enjoy fishing, cooking, dogs, etc.."

I'm no expert by any stretch, and I'm probably guilty many times over, but I believe people should at least make an effort to get it right. Many posts have been taken the wrong way due to inaccurate punctuation, and has been the cause of quite a few misunderstandings on here.
