Well. That took all of 10 mins to do.
Very crude , but I reckon its going to work
Looks pretty good for a first shot, generic imitation of any number of small bait fish - good work and congrats! Apart from catching the other test will be if it stays together or not.

Are you going to use a fly rod or where you gonna throw it via your spin gear somehow?
Thanks mate.
yeah i dunno about durability, probably fall apart after a few casts.
ill be using my spin outfit and use a Texas style rig to fish it or a few other options that i have been working around as an alternative.
hopefully i can fool a salmon, flathead or pinky.. im fairly confident ill catch something.

ive decided to add some red/orange at the tip of the eye of the hook for some bleeding baitfish look, but maybe i might have overdone it now.
ill post some pics later on of it.

Might be able to give you a few pointers. Usually a few minor technique corrections and most people can cast reasonably well.

Just finished up another one.
I used superglue this time and remembered to tie some thread on the hook prior to starting the fly pattern.
I forgot to do that first time around
Ive run out of those small hooks, so I'll try a bugger size next time.
Ive just used whatever I can find in the shed apart from the white fur.

When I tie flies I use some clear nail polish, saw it on the interwebs and can be purchased at supermarkets (coles stocks it anyway) if the better half has any laying around, it works well. Doesn’t take long to dry and does a good job of holding the threads together

Yep. Have heard about the nail polish trick.
I had the superglue in the shed so used that.

I'll def be buying some clear Nailpolish when I'm out at the shops next time.

Do you find it takes time to dry and fiddly to apply though? Tgats what stopped me getting some earlier. But maybe it's not as bad as I think.

It doesn’t take too long, you can wrap the thread around the hook, apply the glue (nail polish), then once the fly is finished put some more glue on the exposed threads, then sit the fly aside. I have found it is usually the exposed thread that will cop a beating so the exposed thread is what I usually coat in glue
