WP top end Snapper sat 14th
Leejo and myself took the trip out into the top end of Westernport on Sat launching from Tooradin Boat Ramp around 10 am - this time of the tide gave us enough water to straight line it over the banks about for about 6 km ( it's a lot further going around the channels )
to a secrete fishing spot that only everyone that fishs Westernport knows
high tide was around 1.30 pm so plenty of time to get up there for the run in action or what seamed lack there of
I struggled to loose a bait and it seams leejo a hundred meters or so away had found a school of Couta for his amusement
about an hour before the top of the tide something took a liking to a squid strip and the rod loaded and drag started peeling
gave me time to get rods out of the way before I had to pick up the rod and make sure the hooks were set
good head shakes and a couple of short but strong runs before getting the leader knot clear of the water the fish didn't like the look of the kayak and looked for the bottom again
next time up I got it in the net - big smiles first Red for the season going 77 cm on the brag mat back at the ramp
and right on the top of the tide I pulled a small couta that I would have kept for bait but my juggling skills failed me and I dropped it over board after unhooking
so only one fish but a worthwhile one - top day out on the water but I fear it was slow for everyone I didn't see much action going on around me with any of the boating guys

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them
