Yak Fisho's, need help!!
Hi guys, just joined after fishvic went down. so glad to be on here. Anyways I just bought a 2 person yak on ebay. love it, can't wait to chase some squid and gars etc, and kings!! loved the yak vid of the shark!! anyways, i was given a humminbird sounder and was wondering how the best way to mount the transducer would be. Can I use it like thru hull, being plastic?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you :reel:

Welcome to the forum borntofish. :welcome:
Where do you fish for squid in your YAK?
I am sure someone will be able to help out with your humminbird sounder.

cheers thank you. wasnt sure if my post worked, kept saying server not accepted. Mt martha, flinders, black rock, anywhere i know theres a huge number of squid and mt martha has a nice school of resident kings, which I came across a little while ago, soo cant wait to summer!!!
You know when they have a fishing show on TV? They catch the fish and then let it go. They don't want to eat the fish, they just want to make it late for something.

Yep, you can use it through the hull.
Mine is stuck to the inside bottom of the hull with allclear.
I just put a big dollop down then pushed the transducer into the allclear, making sure it went in flat to prevent air bubbles.
Then let it sit a week or 2 so it can set.
Next, wire it up, mount the screen, and away you go! :D

The best way is to put it in the hull, I got hobie (westvic kayaksand campers) to do mine and it was done for a good price, you can do it yourself by purchasing the sounder kit from hobie, and that comes with good instructions. It is a really smart way to do this as you can't damage your transducer when launching etc.
