I wouldn't be looking that hard at the line ratings on the rod seb, look more at what the cast weight is.

all depends on what you want to do with it, but the casting weight is a good point, and so is the way the blank loads and behaves.

i have two 2-4kg rods.

black label V2 6102lxs
2-4 kg and can cast upto 10gms, extra fast action and a 2 piece rod, fuji sic guides

TD commander Avenger
2-4kg and can cast 7gm, fast action, one piece with AGS guides.

even though both are rated to 2-4kg, i have more faith in the black label to battle the bigger fish, the commander just isnt the same, it is defenitely more lighter and more sensitive, but i am not confident in pushing it on big fish like i have with the black label.

i believe the Tournament bream specialist i have is also a 2-4kg not sure about that one, but thats also again a whole different rod all together compared to the other 2

best to try before you buy if you can (bit hard atm) that way you can pick what suits your style.

Mate cork handle eva is pretty dam good as for feeling everthing that,s what braid is for .My favorite rod is the shimano impact nano xt 762 lt spin 1-4kg lure 3-10grams ian miller now a couple of week,s ago bought a atomic arrowz made buy majorcraft it,s a estuary model so not a whippy tip like the purpose bream range .I have only been casting with it in the backyard but really like it if you can find one of the impact nano,s i was talking about go for it as for the later edition raider rods i thought they got really crap review,s

Based on my experience majorcraft rods are fairly light for their ratings and even then there's a fair difference between them. I have two 6'6 volkeys one 4-8lb and one 5-10lb they are very different rods even with such similar ratings and both are a bit lighter than equivalent ratings in aus imo. So I wouldn't stress about 4-8lb not being different to your basspara. The other thing to add is I've found the majorcraft bass rods to have reasonably slow loading blanks which I find great for fishing with trebled lures but isn't ideal for plastics fishing for something like snapper.

If you are after something that is more dedicated towards plastics fishing I would chase a faster action to assist with hooksets (especially for snapper/pinkies) and also to impart action to the plastic.Personally, I would put a bit more effort into trying to chase up one of the black labels as they are very nice for plastics and extracting fish out of cover and should suit what you are after. Failing that one of the zodias that is being cleared would be the best option I can think of right now.

Pretty much what i was also just going to say and why i recommended the black label.
hook set is a lot better, and has the balls to put pressure on the bigger fish.
i have never used a zodias, but they seem pretty well built.

Honestly going from a Shimano Raider, any rod that's been mentioned will feel better and do a better job. No offence Seb..

I also have a Daiwa Sol 2-4kg which isn't as sensitive as most rods but has good power and hook set for those fish with harder mouths when using plastics. It's also pretty cheap, I think they are under $150

Good point.
Mainly I'll be casting 2-12 gm. Mostly likely plastic with 1/8 jig head. I'll focus on the casting weight.

Oh true. Since I'll be mainly casting plastics (maybe the odd hard body now and then) between 3-10gm. I'll look into fast action rod then.

Guys, let me know if you see a black label rod available. Hard to get now.

Different kettle of fish certainly, but the 3-10lb majorcraft baitcast rod I have is not only one of the ballsiest lighter rods i own, but is ridiculously sensitive and capable of 1gm-7gm lure weights. I wouldn't discount any rod purely on listed specs
