What works for you is correct, however the dominant hand should never have to leave the rod, no need to ever change hands after the cast. The winding hand only lays line on the reel while the strength stays with controlling the fish.
It,s common sense but hard to convince those that have grown up going the opposite, an age old arguement.

Catch the fish
and earn the smiles.

Lord, allow me to catch a fish, so large that even I,when speaking of it afterwards.........May have no need to lie !!!

I cast and reel right, can't do the left hand reeling, too awkward. I've doing it this way all my life and to be honest changing the rod to my left hand after casting is now so natural that I often forget I've done it. I've never had a problem playing a fish with the rod in my left arm and reeling with my natural right, I must have a strong left arm
