For rough brute and strength fight hustle, can't go wrong with ugly sticks or Penn. Get a 10kg or even 12kg rod class for bigger gummy.
There are a lot of models, the glass or composite are tough as.

If you're after lighter and more delicate rods, then get graphite rods in the same class.

So depends on your budget and how do you fish.

I personally err on the heavier side because gummy fishing is likely to turn up large bycatch than the last thing you want to be doing over the bite window to trying to winch a skate up to the boat in an area with decent current flow using a <10kg rod. I would also go with glass rods for this reason.

If's a question with a lot of answers Dennis.
In Westernport, I use a couple of 10-12kg rods, (one is an old Abu Suveran I've had for donkey's years).
As 4Liters mentioned, the main issue is the bycatch, Skate, Rays and the like. I've caught 1300mm gummies on a little 6-8kg Samurai rod, and that was magic fun, and qould probably go ok in the less tidal areas, but overall, a 10-12 kg softish rod will win out in the long run.

I have a pair of Gary Howard 10kg rods with charter specials you need something with a bit of grunt especially if you are going to fish in high current deep water using 8 to 12 ounce sinkers

I have a ugly stik blue water 761 MH
I think they are very conservative on their line class it is more like a 10 to 12 kilo rod
The Fuji K fazlite guides are a bonus to .
Works good with the sustain 8000.

Ps just remembered you have a 7000 so I did a quick search and found the bluewater rods in overhead are mostly 5'6"
