I have a pair of catana 702 and the join looks nothing like that, mine the black part is longer and just slides over the blue section. Does the joint but together and how far does it extend in the other half.

Check to see if any flex coat drops are restricting movement. If not try some WD 40 or a lubricant as Don from summer bay suggested. I use nasal grease. Rub the side of your nose its always greasy. Especially when no normal grease is available
