yeah, i meant vertical jigging with the slim mettle thingys.

but ill try bouncing it as well

i planed to just hang my rod over the pier and jig, would probably get snagged on the pylons but i could try to go in between them.

You can try micro metal, since most piers be quite shallow.
Otherwise, go to pt Lonsdale or station pier, that drops straight to deep water/channel.

Better of with shore jigging I'd say.

what gram jigs would you suggest? I'm thinking 20-80 gram jigs.

Why don't you just buy few diff jigs and try.
And make sure your rod has the right casting weight range.

The rod should have a specification that says that.
