my new light rod and reel

Post by fisho999 » Sat Jul 30, 2022 4:50 pm

hey,
i finally went to Shepperton today to have a look at the rod and reel i was going to buy. i bought the Shimano Sedona XT 622 UL 1-3 kilo spin rod and i got the Shimano FX 1000 reel. i put 6 lb Shimano Exage on the reel and i am very pleased with it :-D . it casts very smoothly and i would recommend buying what i have bought today if you are looking for a non expensive light combo. the team at anaconda were exceptional as always. :tu:

thanks,

yep, I'm gonna be using a few Mepps Aglias today when i go so we'll see how good they are mate. its overcast conditions today so ill be working poppers, Repala originals and a float rig with worms and other stuff i find in my paddock. also spinners. the poppers will be on my 2-4 kilo rod and every thing else should be on the new light setup, except the bait of course.

cheers

If I knew you were going to use bait I would have suggested pink powerbait, almost guarantee a fish

hey,
im back. i fished for 2 hours and caught 2 rainbow trout. both were under sized and unfortunately i gut hooked both of them and they died. the first one was 20 cm and i didn't measure the other one. i got nothing on my ultra light gear but i did get a few hits. noting on poppers but lots of bites and action on the bait rod. i was using worms i found in my paddock and some baby cicadas. but the Ultra light performed very well and i cant wait to get out there again. i think the trout got gut hooked because i was using hooks that were small, I'll get some bigger hooks soon. the bait rig was just 6 lb braid as the mainline, Albright knotted to some 2 kilo mono leader, with a float and a split shot.

cheers,
