Hi, I’d second the rev but have not owned one. I can suggest a 9 foot maikuro too. Probably a little bit cheaper but really happy with mine. Pairs well with a 4000-500 and the weight rating is a little more realistic for Vic salmon.

I own a revo, it's a solid rod but bit heavy compared to other rods in its class. I also own the maikuro II and can say it is a much lighter rod and I've battled Sting rays the size of your car bonnet on it and it held up. The revo in my opinion is better for bait fishing than lure tossing. Each to thier own, both those rods are good for the price

They used to be called tcurve revolution offshore and inshores and they were great rods. I've got a 904 travel one. Does the job nicely. I don't know if they've changed out the components. Cobby probably does.

The Revo in my opinion is better for bait fishing than lure tossing.


I might go with the Revo then because it will be for both lure and bait. thanks mate.

Pair it with a 5k reel. Not cos you need the line capacity. But to just help with the retrieve speed.

I'm thinking the Shimano Nasci 5000, i will probebly put some Nomad Panderra 8X 200 Metre Braid Line Cyan Blue 20 lb on it. should I go up to 30 lb? or go down to 15 lb?

The old Tcurve revo used pac bay zirconium guides and pac bay reel seats. The newer revo uses Fuji O ring guides and Shimanos own (cheapy Chinese oem) reel seats.

If it's only going to be used for Salmon mostly chucking metals I'd rather go a Raider 942SP. Yes it's only 3-6kg vs the revos 6-10kg, but it's still a 15-40gm lure weight vs the revo 15-50gm. And it's got the better Fazlite guides

Sucks though cos I wish I'd bought more of the 762 10-15kg tcurve offshores. I hoped the revos were still the same.

I'd rather a Fuji over a pac bay guide, unless it's a roller. They still make the 762 model, and the blanks are arguably better since shifting from whatever noodle maker they used to Toray carbon fibre a few years back. The whole "Ian Miller" branding was exactly that, leveraging off his name and the reputation of his own Millerods brand to get more sales. Once Japan took over the show from Dunphy they've phased out all the naming endorsements like Ians, one bonus is getting some JDM models domestically at somewhat reasonable prices.
