Shimano raider, good or don’t bother?

Post by fisho999 » Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:21 am

Hey all,
Thinking of getting a smaller bait cast rod to the Alvey I have. I think a Shimano raider would be good, this will be for cod fishing in streams and rivers.
These are the 2 I am looking at.

Does any one have one or have an opinion on them?

I would just stick with the rod you have for now until you've caught a few fish on it and have a better idea what you want for your style of fishing

Hey, ronan. I don’t know if you are having a joke or if you are being ignorant, but I catch other fish besides carp. There are a lot up here so I catch them a lot. I think buying a smaller and lighter rod will benefit me in catching more cod and yellas :ft:

I can't say I've used either, though I can appreciate throwing lures / plastics around with some light gear.
Have fun with it mate, ignore the negative comments!

I'd rather catch a million Carp than another Snapper... Atleast the Carp aren't one and a half runs and done

Spreading the virus i see haha

Well, I'm selling my ATC COMBAT CF51 baitcast reel if anyone's interested. Comes with shallow bfs spool and normal spool. 9+1 bearings and weighs only 160g.
Used only once in freshwater.

Still under warranty etc, haven't filled out the paper.

I'm sure there's a room for a 9th reel :-D

It's a good reel, but I have a small hand and it feels a bit too bulky for me. It's got a lot of power (drag), be good versatile reel for trout to cod.
Plus, I want to upgrade and get a gekka air reel haha
