IGFA rated line.

Post by Mutley and Scruffy » Sun Jul 10, 2016 12:13 pm

Hi peeples
A question regarding line, be it mono or braid...if it states that it is IGFA rated, I assume that means the line rating is going to be very accurate? For instance, I currently use Fins PRT coaxial cable, sorry, I meant braid. It is not IGFA rated and I know that 10 lb is likely to break well over 15 lb. I am looking at different braids and one of them is IGFA rated so me thinks I have to get exactly the b/s line that I want.
Thanks in advance.
Jim

IGFA rated means that it will break under the rating after it has been soaking in water for a certain amount of time

Unless your going for a record I would not use IGFA rated mono or braid, who wants their line to break under what's specified on the spool ?
I don't when I'm fishing to keep fish for a feed or you hook a huge jew or red ?
Only time I used it was when fishing tournaments on the NSW coast.
He who has the most fishing rods WINS ! :ts:

Not going for any record! One braid I will be trying...Sunline Castaway...it is IGFA rated! So, I just want to know where it is at...10 lb is around 10 lb and I will choose accordingly!
cheers
