The lead given to me by my mate is probably not 100% lead I dropped one off the table and one end of the sinker broke off.

The metal is heavy and melts easy but appears brittle won't worry me.

If he was making pills for shooting I would say that that is either all linotype or a very high percentage of it very accurate stuff to shoot but sinkers will weigh up light .

Cheers you learn something everyday. I had to google it they added tin and antimony to make the bullets harder. Also used in printing

Go for a dive around snaggy piers, I'm sure you'll find a fair amount of sinkers to melt since most wouldve had swivels rusted off or impurities incrusted onto them.

If you looked on Facebook now. There's a few people selling home made sinkers that are reasonably priced I think.

Save the headache of melting the lead and inhaling the toxic fumes and just buy these ones I think.

If you do get to make your own drink plenty of milk, wear a mask, googles and leather gloves.. suck in too many fumes and you'll finish up with lead poisoning.. Warm the sinker moulds up before pouring the lead into them too..
