WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROUT LURE?
Nothing like a quiet day topic but in my younger days my lure of choice was a Flopy. They came in several colors with grey and mustard the most common. They were particularly deadly when there were a lot of frogs around. They floated and you just had to give a nudge or two to make ripples and wait (hopefully) for the strike. I was fishing Lake Bellfield one evening when it was first filling up and I lost count of the strikes, lost fish and releases - with numerous 2 to 4 lb Browns and Rainbows among the just flooded tussocks.

I have several Flopy's in new condition which I have collected over the years but I'm too scared to use.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROUT LURE?
Yes Paul, the Floppy was a great lure for trout and bass, in fact most species. There was a sinking lure with a hinged tail also made by Rublex called the Plucky. It was deadly on trout, very popular in New Zealand, but disappeared before the Floppy. When Dartmouth was filling I cleaned up on both lures for trout, and maccas too.
Back in the 60s/70s the other great trout lures were the Mitchell spinners replaced by celtas, wonder wobblers and the pegron wobblers. The plastic minnow lures like the F40s then appeared and are still popular.
Of the current crop of lures my favourites for trout are the Strike Tiger soft plastics, which are great in all streams.
I still have a few of the older lures which I use and they still work brilliantly. Got a few floppys and spare bibs too. Out of all of them they are the most versatile as they can be fished on the surface or diving. They were probably the greatest bass lure of all time, and great on cod and barra The pluckys though were brilliant in lakes when fished near weed beds.
Difficult choice to pic one, it would depend on the type of water = floppys for rivers, pluckys for lakes and strike tigers for streams.
Best Wishes

Not saying your stretching the truth, but, with no hooks you're relying on the trout suffocating

Truedogz the old wonder wobbler in various colors was a great lure as well and great for long casts. There was also I think a Dickson? small blade lure with red feathers on the hook. Aside from trout this was quite deadly on Redfin. As for my spelling - you are right it was Floppy!
