Does anyone have any experience, opinions or theories on the effectiveness of the squid shaped soft plastics done by chasebaits, Savage gear and others?

Techniques, likely species, likelihood of higher success vs regular style plastics?

Considering picking up a pack and jigging them for snapper.

I know a lot of people that have bought them. I don’t know anyone that’s got a fish on em...

Pretty much what Ducky said. I've got a few but never did any good.

I think someone suggested rigging them like you would a running sinker rig to allow them to move a bit more freely, I haven't tried that though

Yeah put the post up cos finding live use reviews has been hard, especially for Australia, so seemed a bit like one of those good looking designs to primarily catch fishermen

I have used them on a paternoster rig off shore did ok but not as good as snapper snatchers.
I have never used them as a lure being worked by hand.

I've used the smaller ones (1.5? 2 inch? I don't recall) put out by Keitech. They have a couple of squid-shaped offerings in their range, actually. I found pinkies went for them ... but sometimes, especially on warm summer evenings just as it goes dark, pinkies will smash *anything*. So I don't know if that's necessarily a selling point of the squidy plastics.

Funny how tinsel and foil outfishes a realistically molded soft plastic imitation bait!

I've never used them but they are not selling many at my local Tackle store before he closed down

by the sound of it they work great, catch plenty of fishermen
