Thanks for the plaig link milzee.

It depends on the model but several of the stradics and I’m sure other models have a one piece line roller. As in you can’t easily just replace the bearings (at least shimano don’t sell them separately) and you must replace the line roller with it’s bearings in a single unit.

Having said that, and I’m not 100% if I remember correctly but I might have managed to press out the bearings from an old one piece stradic line roller after I replaced it just to see if it could be done.

If I could replace these bearings with ceramic I’d do it! They are always the first thing to fail on my reels. They do cop a beating and they aren’t covered under warranty at all. Shimano’s warranty is mostly a bad joke.

I have no idea what I would buy from BCF with a $100 voucher. I’ve already got more fishing gear than I know what to do with. Sorry I’m no help there.

So I took out and cleaned the line roller bearing on my Stradic CI4 4000F.
Sprayed with Inox and unfortunately it still makes that aweful grinding noise.
Is this the correct replacement bearing and should I go ceramic ($14.90) or stainless steel ($5.90)?

It’s easier to renew the bearing rather than try to clean and re oil, they are a semi sealed bearing and almost impossible to fix once it’s noisy.

Get the stainless one from Trev and it’ll be fine. He’s a great bloke and generally if you order it today(b/h) you generally get it tomorrow.

Dumb question but does the bearing in the listing come like the one in the image thats a circular donut shape?

Seems really cheap at $5.90 if so.

Also im actually having difficulties getting it out of the bail arm.

Spray it with inox or similar and let it sit overnight.

It will be seized with corrosion, so you will need to use a bit of force to get it apart, the middle silver piece should slide out and then it should come apart, you may need to use a fine screwdriver to seperate the pieces after that, just take your time.
