Large BCF Chain Store vs Specialists Owner/managed Store ?

i've just started getting into fishing and i spoke it izzy bloke at BCF he looked after me told me not to just run into the store and buy an expensive rod and reel thinking it'll catch me the shiz. he said get onto the forums talk to the people who are useing the gear and ask them what the go is.

Good Advise , you dont need to purchase the most most expensive gear . but you should get the most functional gear you can afford , so take your time & get what suits you .

This is what I think of every time I go into a tackle store... Don't get what you think you need, get what you do need.

With saying that I mean you have done your research and ready to go in and get it straight away and also safes the mega bucks! All the gear is just too tempting! lol

Generally I purchase rods / reels from specialty shops. Lures I purchase when they are on sale - from anywhere. I have started purchasing lures online from the US but these are generally types / colors that are not available here in Oz.
