Most fish mongers will sell them live. Even the ones in the fresh food sections of shopping centres sometimes have them.... along with pillies, mussels etc

yepi'mon, that's the same in Adelaide, some Fish Mongers even have both, Bait grade and Food grade. Not always but mostly, mate and I get the food grade for bait. I mean, if I can tell the pillies are the lower bait grade, then so can the fish. It has paid results, especially when fishing on a Jetty with food grade bait next to someone who has bait grade.

Believe it or not, we sometimes buy a Tuna Steak (the smallest we can get) and use it as, small cube baits (to get more out of it) on circle hooks when fishing for KGs off a Jetty. Trick to make it stay on and not disintegrate is to lightly salt it.

Cheers, Bugatti.
