Nice Matt, I have a few of the same rods new that haven’t been used yet ready to go for this coming season. Looking forward to using them

Out of all the tackleshops, it's hard to go past Anaconda when they have a sale on...those $35 ugly stik deals were a ripper. (I think they have good prices on reels at the moment)Lightningx wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:24 amNice Matt, I have a few of the same rods new that haven’t been used yet ready to go for this coming season. Re: Snapper reel recommendations
wait till the BCF catalouge sales are on, they usually have the Sienna reel and sonic rod plus braid for around $99 bucks as a combo, as well as few other models as well for a bit more $$
its great value at that price.
Otherwise the sienna reel in 4000 with 15-20lb line is all you need for PPB.
i have 4 off sienna 4000 with a 4-7kg graphite rod combos for the snapper in PPB.
they are just the right size for fun and value for money as well..

Re: Snapper reel recommendations
I use 4000 size reels with 12lb maxima and 15lb leader and 4kg shimano starlo stix rods in ppb and have no trouble on snapper to 8kg/gummies to 8kg and have a lot of fun and the catch rate has improved

Good call. I.might top shot 2 of my reels for when the kids get olderMattblack wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:20 amKids & multiple lines in the water are a recipe for disaster...braid is a bastard to untangle & is also harder to try knots if your just starting out. Fibreglass rods are more robust and baitrunners make setting the correct drag pressures a breeze.
For bait fishing, my favourite snapper combo is the 6-10kg/7ft Ugly Stik with a Shimano Baitrunner OC 6000 with 20lb Maxima mono.

Deep water, ABU7000 or PENN 7000 liveliner
Shallow water, PENN 7000 liveliner
or the equivalents of these in good brands.
Dont buy Ananconda 'house' rods and reels. THey look great but dont last. (personal experience)
