Frankston Snapper

Headed out from Frankston with dad last Wednesday for the first snapper session of the year. It was a pretty short after school session so we made no hesitation heading straight toward to the snapper grounds. After about 20 minutes we sounded up a solid arch so decided to drop anchor, 5 minutes later I had a couple of tentative taps, but naturally assumed it was a flathead, however, the bite eventually developed into a pickup and to my amazement after striking I was hooked up. It felt like a reasonable fish, and after a 5 minute fight a 76cm snapper emerged, tangled heavily with the anchor rope. Still managed to net it and was equally surprised and delighted with our success. After that got absolutely mauled by flatheads so decided to head home and revise for my upcoming test the following day.
All in all a good session and already looking forward to the next one.
