My go to for the past 4 seasons has been the D.O.A Jerkbaits 4" in Pink Ice on a TT Jighead size 5/0 in 1/8th for fishing under 10mt over 10mt 1/4oz in same size.
Haven't had a trip where I haven't had 3 under 50 in that time.
Have smashed the fish when plenty around me struggling on Bait and lures.

These are tips I beleive are essential for success.

1. Quality Sounder to detect fish.
2. Use a drough to slow your drift down ( Essential )
3. Use as light a Jighead as possible (1/4oz you mentioned is 2 heavy for where you plan to fish)
4. Try to fish with Flourocarbon leaders no heavier than 10lb
5. Use a Scent on your plastics

Here's a couple of videos of the above plastic in action and these are at Ricketts. Both there and the poles have plenty of 3kg + Fish.
I have been roasted every year by 7kg+ fish, but I do only fish with 7' 2-4kg sticks with 2500 size reels and 10lb Braid with 10lb leaders. I still have managed to land plenty in the 3-5kg class through. GOOD LUCK!!!

Great videos mate.
Fishing light is great but unfortunately its game over if you get a big fish.

I'm hoping to try rickets at some stage this season.
What are the poles you mention.
Is it the yellow ones near rickets point?
I havent fished that area in a long time so my memory isnt great
Cheers

Hi Mate,

Fishing light isn't to much problem it is just setting the hooks on light gear that can be. Last trip got a 5kg fish then dropped 2 x 7kg + fish at the Yak in 2 consecuative casts with the hooks just simply falling out as the fish turned.

Should be out tomorrow arvo.
The good thing is I have many reef pinnacles that I fish in that area that hold fish and its just a matter of sounding them then working out the right drift and deploying the drift shute.

The Põles are the old pier at Port Melbourne.

Hope you get your boat fixed and get stuck into the soon.
I reakon on the next Moon they will go into Spawn mode after all the fresh pushing in this week after all the rain.

Cool thanks for that.
Boat is fixed now. Just waiting to see if I can manage a session in.
I'll have to give tickets a good going over on sidescan and find some nice reef. There quite a few there I know but I got zero idea where . I'll keep sounding the area to find it.

If they spawn on the next moon as you say then theres not much time..
Get into it guys..
Cheers

Hi Dazz,

I'm using the Tournament Series in 5/0 H.
I've still had a couple bent like Bananas even though the are the Heavy Dirty hooks by big fish. Generally use 1/8th oz unless fishing over 12mt or when seas are 1mt waves I'll run 1/4oz.
