2019 snapper season

What is everyones or anyones opinion on this season so far and how well have you fishos doing
I have been fishing ppb north including blackrock area and 1 trip off carrum
Out off 7 trips I've managed 2 reds 3-5kg range
The water temp in the deeper areas is only around 15.5 this morning andi usually fish 14m+ depth
Not sure if shallow is any better
Havent seen many reports on this forum
So far i rate this season as poor as last

I haven't really bothered with snapper yet, have more interest in diving atm, but there is heaps of reports of big snapper caught all over Facebook. 2 mates of mine who are brothers caught an 84 and 83cm yesterday. It seems like it's a pretty solid season so far?

The got them inclose at willy over the weekend same area where I have been fishing.
Mate got some straight out of Altona in 15....now would be the time to land a decent 80cm plus fish imo

This is my 2nd trip out.
Got one 2.5kg fish last evening at mt Eliza. 16m mark
Couldn't mark up any fish at all. I recon the sounder is faulty in my mates boat. Has been playing up a lot recently ...
We just sat on a mark and got the one fish. My mate caught it not me.

Till the water temp kicks up they will still be hard work.

WP is still long hours for only a few fish in a small bite time.

Waters not even 16° in most places. Fish shallower or higher up in the water column where there's pockets of warmer water. At least in westernport, barely anyone who has had absolute mayhem sessions has been fishing deeper than 12m.....

It's been pretty good so far.

Lots off fish upto 7kgs

Nothing over 7kg

Not as many small fish as last year so that is a slight concern

Very late start to the season, honestly it has been nothing short of crap so far.

Like most I've found it hard but then haven't been able to get out as much with the wind as it has been

normally by now Westernport would be going off but it has been slow
there were a few smaller fish at the cleaning tables in Tooradin last Sunday collected from around the top end

I picked up one good fish Sunday in 2.5 meters of water and the temps were still cool around 16 .5 deg
it was the only red fish that played the game -- lucky there are plenty of Gummies around to keep us amused
