pinkys

Post by fisho999 » Fri Mar 04, 2022 11:55 am

went out to st Kilda pier with a mate to catch any thing that bites. armed with 2 rods and 2 handlines. bait was squid and pipis.
put a pipi on the first hand line instantly got a big bite, so i changed to a larger hook with squid and caught an 11 inch pinky but it was gut hooked so we kept it. as the day went on caught another pinky on the rod also gut hooked and one got snagged around the pier and helped pull in a banjo. cooked the pinkys up one whole one filleted was absolutely horrible but that's our fault. good day ended with hot chips on the beach :gj: :ft: :wt:

Re - gut hooked - have you tried circle hooks? I've just got a few set up in paternoster rigs with flashers. I just drift these as I'm busy flicking sp's.
With baitkeeper hooks I was missing a few hits drifting and had a few pinkies gut hooked too unfortunately.
