Snapper Fishing Tomorrow

Post by georged2 » Mon Dec 05, 2011 9:29 am

Going out tomorrow from Werribee, I know it's going to be rough but is there anywhere near Geelong where it's sheltered from the weather.

Hoping to also catch snapper and hoping to get a few marks near Geelong or Werribee

Straight out from Werribee Sth ramp , approx 8+km out there's plenty of productive Snapper grounds left & right of boat ramp worth sounding up & fishing .

Thanks Mike, just a little unsure as the weather tomorrow might suggest a bit rough to head out that far. I'm hoping Geelong in the bay would be sheltered a little.

The Corio bay inner harbour is relatively sheltered from a S/W wind & launch from St Helens ramp & fish the channel edges .

It's supposed to be easterly for most of the week, maybe you'll need to travel over this side george?

It blew easterly all day, we launched at 4:30am from Werribee and damn it was rough. 4 on board and we managed to fish in a few spots. We caught a few Banjo Sharks and I caught the biggest gummy at around 20 cm. cute little thing. Caught a few good sized flatties.

Moved to Werribee Hole at about 10am, landed a 4.8kg little beauty then a pinkie at about 30cm. That was it.

Pulled the lines in at about 11am and ended pulling in an Octopus to my shock. Yum. He's for dinner. Fluke.

Now, who knows how to catch Occy's without pots or cages, anyone had any luck with other methods.

Oh yeah, glad to back on land, little sore from the chop and I'd like to thank Haines Hunter for keeping us safe, what a great boat I have.
