Portland - Easter
Heading over to Portland for Easter, not been there before, does anyone have any basic tips for the area?
I’m guessing it will be pretty busy like most places over Easter but thats to be expected.
Will be taking my 4.8m quintrex bowrider and a mate will have his 520 Haines signature, he’s keen to try and hook a tuna.

Re: Portland - Easter
It's probably worth keeping an eye on reports from down that way in the weeks leading up to your trip to see if there's many tuna being caught, although that's not always a reliable indicator as some people make an effort to keep quiet about it.
There's probably still whiting around at that time of year if it's too blowy offshore

Not just the tuna. I’m happy to fish for / catch just about anything really, it would be interesting troll up a school tuna or 2 though.
I won’t be going out too far in my boat, if the weather is ok my mate will be keen to head out a decent way in his boat (he hasn’t fished Portland before either), with pre booked dates were always going to be at the mercy of the weather.
Any basic tips on the area for that time of year would be good, not looking for anyone’s top secrets just some ideas.

Re: Portland - Easter
Be sure to check that you have all the appropriate safety gear because the authorities will be red hot at that time including the correct tie downs for your boat etc etc. The tuna are already here somedays in close others out a bit further so I reckon you will be in with a chance at that time with fish probably hanging around the anchorage
