Garfish

Post by Irishfisherman » Wed Jul 29, 2020 10:24 pm

Had another quick session out from Seaford tonight and managed 44 garfish in under an hour. Yet again the method used was to net them under the torch light. A lot of fun and a very effective way to get a feed.

Nice haul mate, plenty for the table and some for bait. Were you with someone or by yourself? I think garfish has a limit of 40 per person, you've done well bagging out. Welldone and enjoy the feed. cheers

It was from the boat, you can also do this from the shore but generally with less success. I’d imagine it would be very entertaining for the kids.

Yeah I'm thinking they will love it.
Do you anchor and burley up or have some sort if other technique involved

All we do is drive the boat around at a speed of around 4-8km, and shine our torches into the water at the side of the boat. Once we see a garfish, dip the net underneath it and let it glide in. It can be tricky and frustrating but also a whole lot of fun. You may want lanyards on the net if the kids are doing it though.

Hahah yep. Sounds like fun. Yeah I'll have to buy some lanyards if I'm going to do this .
