Scaly Fin & Boar Fish

Post by Joker91 » Tue Jan 11, 2022 7:59 pm

Hey - so I was out snorkelling today and had enough of this one fish that I continue see who literally just stares me dead in the face. Any way, I thought it was time to actually find out what it was, looking through the ID page I seen Nudeup (thanks mate) had put up the exact pic which ended up being a Scaly Fin.

I also saw some good size boar fish today approx. 25cm. I know there is no legal size limit but wasn’t sure if that would be considered a good eating size.

My question for both Scaly Fin and Boar Fish is:
What size would you consider a keeper for both of them?

What is the legal size for Scaly Fish (I can’t seem to find it on the Vic fish app, unless I am looking at the wrong name)?

Are either one of them good eating?

Thanks :ch: :ch:

Boar Fish are fantastic. I'd spear a 25cm model if I was into spearing. Scalyfin, wouldn't bother wasting time on one
