Re: Waste of time/money stuff
I think we're overdue for a fish. Somehow I'll have to convince you to try the above and change your mind.

I don't agree with braid and shinny lures. Some people like to fish for other things rather than Whiting and without them you will struggle. I would like to add egi rods to the list though

Re: Waste of time/money stuff
For whiting I like monofilament line unless fishing deeper areas with a lot of tidal flow. Quality lures are great and a lot more fun to use to catch fish than anchoring and sinking baits.Seniorfisho wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 9:21 amI don't agree with braid and shinny lures. Whiting fishing I enjoy from time to time for a feed or just a bit of bait collection.

Re: Waste of time/money stuff
Nah, some things are worth the investment.
You could either but a decent quality squid jig which will last 1000s of squid with a little tlc;
or go to Kmart, spend $2.50 and then spend what you saved on superglue.
They'll both catch squid, but one will last a lot longer than the other.
EGI rods - If you're from a boat, you really don't need one.
If you're fishing from land, that is 100% when you'll notice the difference.
You know what really sold me on an EGI rod, not having a sore arm from holding the rod the whole time + not having eyelets rust out after 12 months.
Sometimes it's the small pleasures. haha!
