Hi folks
I've been reading a bit lately about rigging soft plastics NED style. Seems to be pretty basic but the claims of success are pretty strong.
Does anyone have an opinion or experience with this style of SP rigging?

Its a popular method in the states to target bass and the likes. Best used with elastech type plastics for maximum effect.
Works well on the pinkies, bream and eps here, haven't tried on anything else.

Ive caught Bass, redfin, EP's and yellowbelly on them. They are good when you work them slow along the bottom and need to keep the plastic close to the bottom

Is that just use a diff jighead and that's it?

The Edward rig works well around fallen timber for bass. Have tried ripping a claw off to imitate a bass yabby for EPs but haven’t produced.

The jig head is weighted to sit on the bottom allowing the “bait” (soft plastic) to wriggle vertically.

Yep… and that’s why I posted. Most ‘ordinary’ jig heads are weighted forward and If its’s sitting on the bottom with a buoyant plastic, why wouldn’t it have the same impact as special NED jighead.

Ned rigs are designed to make the plastic sit up at 90 degrees from the bottom whereas a standard jighead and a buoyant plastic will sit at around 30 degrees. Mainly makes a difference using small hops in a difficult bite from what I've seen. Not something I've actually used a whole heap
