Favourite flattie bait or lure?

Hmmm, it was the Squiggy Wriggler Bloodworm 100mm until yesterday.

I was fishing the flats in Gataker's Bay near Hervey Bay targeting Mangrove Jacks using bacon as bait and caught a 73cm Flattie!

No Jacks though.

man i love hervey bay! fishing off the beach with a telescopic rod i took on the plane with me catching whiting!


Found pippies always worked well for flathead for me, but havent gone after them for a long time....

Zman minnowZ in 3", or swimmerz in 4" 1/6 or 1/4 ounce jighead hopped accross the bottom. Or curl tail grubz in 2.75 or 4", same jigheads. Nails em.

(Whereabouts), at what depth and time of tide/flow are you guys fishing with 1/4 ounce jig heads to be able to get to and stay on the bottom?? I hear the theory but can't get the practice!!

I've never caught a flatty on plastic. which really suprises me due to the amount of times i've fished with plastics lol

im probably a self proclaimed flathead king

i normally use fresh flathead fillets, squid strips and salted pillchards

i can catch them from 8cm to 65cm
went out on friday and caught 2 over 45cm on flathead fillets and 3 over 35cm on squid strips and a few just size but we were snapper fishing so only spent a hr on flathead
