Get various halco twisty metals according to your rod's casting capabilities. And just cast and cast and cast.
You can find aussie salmon in a lot of places atm.

thanks, would my catana spin rod with a 2500 size reel and 6 kilo braid do the trick?

9 to 10' spinning rod and a 4000 size reel is the way to go.

Smaller reels don't tend to have a great retrieve speed so you'll find yourself winding really hard to get the lure moving.

What 4litres said :tu:

Longer rod gives longer casting distance too, cast heavier metal lures to cast further.

For piers and jetties are okay to use 2-4kg rod and 2500 reel, cast 10g metal.
But for bigger stuff, off the surf etc, I'd say 9ft and 4000 reel, 15lb line, to cast 25-50g metal lures.
