How far can you cast?

Post by CremeDeLaCreme » Tue Jan 29, 2013 1:50 pm

I think I can cast about 100 meters, but I don't actually know for sure!
I have always wondered if there is a way to actually physically measure how far you can cast?
Is there a place in Melbourne where 100 meters is actually measured out so you can see for sure with no guesstimates?
The only place I can think of is a running track, but I have no idea where to find one :dontknow

I thought I was Ok at casting, been a Surf Fisherman for years and watching these guys at work truly blew me away. My starting cast was about 55-60m, and by the end of the day with just a bit of guidance I finished at 90-100m, Same gear, just with a better idea of how to put a cast together

I get about 130? And that's without using the pendulum method that alot of sportscasters use.

Me and my brothers used to see who can cast the longest distance. We found casting parallel the beach on the sand was good, we can mark where the sinker landed, make sure that there's nobody with in about 500m from you as a busted sinker can really fly a fair distance.

Is that with or without a baited hook?

Mine's with a sinker and bait mate, using buoys or objects in the water etc as markers.

Depends on the setup a bit too much doesn't it???

I get my 11ft Penn SBG, Saragosa with Braid, and a 5oz bomb about 100m.
