Trout Fishing
Last weekend my dad and I managed to sneak in a day trip to the Dargo river in search of a few late season trout. We rose early Sunday morning for a 5 hour drive, and after a few stops for snacks and diesel and bit of dodgy off-roading we finally arrived. The river was clear and running fast, so we went our seperate ways and began to fish. At first I managed to catch a couple of small brown trout around 20cm, it certainly wasn’t fast action but it was great feeling to be back in the tranquility of the high country. I continued to catch trout using spinners although most were small, so upon arrival of a larger pool I tried using worm, it took around ten minutes before I caught my first fish, and was the biggest so far at around a pound and a half and 38cm. Sadly, it managed to swallow the hook, and was bleeding so I kept him for a feed. After that I didn’t manage any more on worm, so I switched back to a spinner and soon caught another few small brownies, keeping one more to cook up on the fire. We headed back home at 4pm after a long and successful day of fishing. Satisfied by our efforts, hopefully until next season.

Great to hear that your dad and you got a trout trip in, that it was successful and a fresh trout dinner cooked and sitting by the campfire
On the "dodgy off-roading" , , , , maybe let your Dad drive next time
Very nice report Irishdoooode
Cheers, Bugs

Great report & photos, Irish
A day fishing with Dad is the best (do it while you can)
What lure did the damage, hopefully a mepps black fury.
Cheers Gra

Re: Trout Fishing
The spinners I used were all mepps, I had a few casts with a black fury and managed a small brown trout. The rest were caught on a gold and red dot aglia. In my opinion mepps have to be the best trout lures on the market.
