tim neville arboretum
Seems we have a few people hitting tim neville arboretum since the carp cull - thought I might open a fresh thread specifically for this location.
Hoping to get back there myself soon.
So keep the updates coming and let's see who can catch one of the monsters that so far have been busting us all off...... :snap:

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad

Re: tim neville arboretum
I actually think it is deeper than it looks. Overall size of the two ponds is not huge though.
My daughter and I went back for a 30 mins session last night in the end....I was not feeling the best so we called it quits early. We fished the top lake and on the side with the log wall and it is just over two foot deep and that point - and three foot deep a few feet further out. (another candidate for some sounding to confirm actual depth)
Anyway had a few good bites during that time, but I have to say they were suspiciously eel like, rather than carp like.
Hard hit, then a long slow pull. After the strike they took off and then stopped like we were caught on snags. if we let the drag off they would slowly start to move again and then bang back to stuck fast, until we were broken off.
Would have to actually land one to be 100% sure, but certainly seemed like eels to me.

Re: tim neville arboretum
I might wander down here sometime soon, i've still somehow never actually caught a carp so I don't know what everyone keeps complaining about, I feel like i'm missing out on the total freshwater experience.
Maybe tomorrow morning.

Went back last night - real spur of the moment, and was only there for 30 mins but even in that time my daughter got a little 27 cm carp, and plenty of varied bites.

That's very small!
Angling is the name given to fishing by people that can't fish
