Re: WA Salmon
It depends on the weather/warm currents but they have stuck around until May/June the last 2 years with the odd fish around longer.Lightningx wrote:How long does the run usually last for do you know?
The main pack have turned back south but still tonnes (literally) of them still around the metro area.
Report from Cheynes beach last week was you could almost walk on the they were that thick.

Re: WA Salmon
Peak time is around Easter for planning trips.
If you want to dodge the crowds then either before or after (depending on School Holidays).
dunsborough/Yallingup would be the prime spots south as you can range day trips from there to chase them.
Searching WA Forums will give you plenty of ideas.
If you want to do some deep fishing (charter) while your there you can add some top table fish with it.

Re: WA Salmon
They head back there in summer. They migrate north with the winter currents.
If you go there in winter they'll all be gone.
But a top Mullaway spot on the beaches (all year) with plenty of 20kg models landed frequently.
Hit up the rocks next to deep water all along the south coast for Big Snapper, Yellowtail Kings and Blue groper.
Very heavy gear required and learn how to slide bait for best results and have your safety gear sorted. No one around to save you if you get washed in.
Check out Travgrundys fishing adventures on FB and http://www.southernwaoutdoors.com.au/ for more info on the area. They'll give you up to date info on what's around the time of year you want to go.
