Hi all!
With today's good weather wishing me luck, (I hope) I set off for Brighton Breakwater and its beach. I arrived at the main pier at aorund 1:30pm, with a small NW breeze. Put out a burley slick, cast out the bait rods and set to work with my plastics. Within minutes, BANG! Bait rod #1 was off, drag screaming. Half way through the fight my second bait rod went off as well, so I just loosened the drag and hoped I didnt get spooled. Anyways, first fish landed was a 35cm pinky, pretty damn happy

. Tighten the drag on the other bait rod and pull in a larger pinky at 38cm dead on. Dinner was already sorted, but I wanted to flick some plastics around so I put away my bait and proceeded to chuck plastics around. At the end of the breakwall I cast out towards the opposite end of the bay, and hook up onto a small 20cm pinky. Cast to the same spot, and within a few casts another, smaller pinky at 15cm. I cast again and this time it put up a half decent fight - out comes a 32cm pinky. After that all went quiet, so I began making my way back towards the marina entrance, casting my plastic every 5m or so without any bites or even a hint of the past action. Decided to move to the spot bowl showed me, and ballooned out my baits about 100m. Sat around for a bit, waded and cast soft plastics, before a rod began shaking around. After a lackluster fight, an undersize flatty was brought in and released without harm. By now the wind had picked up and was blowing harder than ever, so I packed up at 4:15pm and headed for home.
All in all it was an awesome session, one I have dreams about, but I am still chasing that elusive flathead on plastics.
Cheers!
