thought i'd do an intro
Hey guys, been on this page for a little bit of time and thought I'd do an intro, loving the tips, tricks, and reports that this page has to offer.
So, I am 17 years of age completing year 12 at the moment and absolutely love fishing. I try to get out as much as I can but that is usually limited to once every couple of weeks during school time(holidays, I get out more)
I am located in the Western suburbs of Melbourne and do both land and boat based fishing mainly in port Phillip bay(unless I go on holidays to nsw for example or to Gippsland which I have previously reported on. Personally, I prefer bait fishing as it is relaxing, and to me, nothing beats your rod buckle and scream.
When landbased I prefer to fish around Williamstown as it is not too far from home and offers vast opportunities.
Some of the fish I encounter landbased at willi include Pinkies, snapper, bream, trevally and flatties(most predominant). I have caught some kgw and also yakkas on occasions as well. I would one day love to catch a jewie landbased which unfortunately, I have pulled hooks on one fishing the Barwon estuary a few years back.
Boat based, one of my fav spots would have to be Werribee to point Wilson as it offers literally every possible target species in the bay. From the squid fishing to the remarkable whiting fishing to even the late season snapper, as well as your smaller fish like pinkies and garfish.
Personally, snapper and squid fishing is my favorite but when the whiting are on, that's also hard to beat.
My most prized catch to date would have to be a snapper I caught off of Black Rock, 3-4 years back weighing in at 8.1kg. Still stoked with the catch today.
Cheers, Matt

Welcome to the forum Matt, good luck with your fishing, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Welcome Matt,
Great intro, nearly as good as mine (Did I do one ???)
Concentrate on your studies this year, it's more important than fishing
Next year drivers license, car with towbar - you'll be unstoppable
Cheers Gra
