Re: Squid reccomendations
Lots of squid in the area, just look for patches of weed.
3.5 or 3.0 is what I use 99% of the time.

More so for the kayaking than the fishing,
(I am not sure how much experience you have kayaking or what kayak you have, but as a general rule)
Ideally you would want light S/SE for Rye.
Make sure you have all the safety gear that you would need before you go paddling, especially in winter.
Especially if alone or fishing with those who are inexperienced.

Re: Squid reccomendations
I fish with 3.0 jigs pretty much 100% of the time. And i base my initial choice of colour on the water clarity and light conditions. On a clear sunny day i like to start with a more natural looking jig and in darker murky conditions i go for the brighter colours. Having said that my go to jig is a Shimano Sephia in the all white colour.
If the bottom structure will permit it i also like to drop shot one jig or a soft plastic while casting another.
The only thing better than serenity is a two stroke at full throttle!
