I'll actually give three land based kingie spots in VIC.Robbie1950 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 6:49 amI'm loving some of the replies to this topic
Lorenzia, I don't think many will give away there 'favourite' land based spots or even 'kingie spots' over a fishing forum mate.
Mornington pier. Float a live garfish off the end between 7am-10am from January to April on a high tide and / or a fullish moon. There's one guy there catching kings like this and he seems to get a couple every year.
Docklands. Float a pilchard with a purple or green skirt 2-5m under a float. Same conditions at morno. Lock your drag and hang on for dear life. If that fish gets under a pylon you're cooked.
Portland Lee breakwall. I've written several reports about this. Use squid strips or live baits 30m out about 3/4 of the way down. Drive your car right to the spot you're fishing. Take a gaff cos they get biiiiiggg.
And a fourth spot....
ANY ocean facing rock ledge. Kings travel and travel fast. Pick a ledge that drops into 5+ metres of water, find a day that it's fishable and cast the biggest, shiniest popper or stickbait you can while watching your livebait under a balloon. Choose your day extremely carefully, because the vast majority of Victorian ledges are a pain in the ass to fish properly. Rock up before dawn to collect your liveys and be spinning from 7-10am.
