Never before Bug
The rope that came with it is 10mm,looks pretty strong and the swivel is s/steel which has the nut welded so it cant come loose so it looks strong enough
Sounds like a decent rope set-up
A few things I do (others may do different, each to their own but it all ends up the same)
With Squid, I de-head them, by thumb between the head and the tube, into the hood and lift off from the back bone (cartilage) and pull out the head trying to get most of the guts with it.
I cut the tentacles off, above the head/eyes, if I plan to eat them (but still can be used for bait). Or I cut below the head (head to have the tentacles still attached but not the guts) if I plan to use the heads for bait (for Snaps). I find freezing the heads/tentacles with the guts for bait stinks out the bait AND makes it extra messy when using them as bait. Some leave the guts, saying it adds to berley, which is also true.
Tentacles (and/or) heads don't go in the Scaling Bag.
With the Tubes (I eat the wings) just straight into the bag as it is, wings attached, just snip the point off the tube. This allows for water to pass through the inside of the squid tube easier when towing the Scaling Bag, Tumbler Bag which helps clean the inside of the tube. You can leave the point on, it just takes a lot longer OR you stop once the outside is clean and "turn the tubes inside out manually". Time consuming and you split some tubes in doing it that way.
Plonk the Squid in the Bag. I cable tie the opening to make sure it doesn't open. Doesn't open often but with the bouncing in the wake it has done, vary rarely, BUT enough to get annoyed with lost squid (or fish).

If you have a Deckie, they can "feed" the Bag out as you are idle cruising up or "feed" it out yourself.
I just leave it in the water, clear of the prop, and idle up to pick up the slack line. Then gradually pick up speed and the Bag starts to skim on the surface.
Too slow

Just right (could be a bit faster but still fine)

This is perfect. If you can get it in the wake wave, even better as it would tumble even more.

Just check periodically to see if the squid are clean. 5 mins should do it but may need longer. If after 5 mins, the squid have just tattered skin then you may need to cruise a bit faster for the Scaling Bag to do it's job. When it is working a treat, it's like inside a washing machine, plooms of black ink etc.
Once the Squid are clean, it almost looks bleached white
If you plan on freezing some, straight from the bag is best. If they only have been in salt water they freeze better, minimises that white spot freezer burn AND tastes better.
With Whiting , , , , plonk in, cable tie and tow , , , , easy peasy
Cheers, Bugs
