Hi just curious to hear from people who have owned alloy boats as to whether a fully eam welded boat vs a spot welded alloy boat really offers any greater advantages in strength and resistance etc
In other words is an investment in a fully seam welded alloy boat worth the extra money if it ensures the longevity of a boat and greater resistance to cracks etc ? Is a spot welded alloy boat really any more vulnerable to cracking or damage ?
It seems you pay a lot more for a fully seam welded boat these days or is it just marketing to justify a higher price for the boat ?
Seam welded or spot welded alloy boats....which is better !

Re: Seam welded or spot welded alloy boats....which is better !
all alloy boats i have seen are fully welded below the waterline.
its around the gunwales and possibly other areas inside the hull that will be stitch welded, these areas will allow salt etc to get in to these areas and will eventually start to corrode with salt water use. all the mass produced boats will be built this way.
some areas can be easily sealed up with sikaflex.
its not really going to cause any major problems.
a custom alloy boat fully welded all round would be a big extra cost, yes it will be better. but cost v's needs?

The boat gives you a fantastic ride but the quality of the weld around the boat is very shoddy-Looks like its been done by a 3 year old-I did take pics and sent them to Telwater whom make Quintrex-no reply
